Audio-Visual Systems in your Meeting Spaces
Your audio system is just as important as the video presentation during your meeting in your conference room. Poor sound quality will doom any attempt to collaborate. Acoustically, every space will behave differently and using the right technology helps eliminate unforeseen obstacles. It’s rare to find a collaborative space that offers poor visuals, but it’s common to find a collaborative space that presents challenges acoustically. Fortunately, audio visual integrators have the tools and expertise to overcome these challenges.
Microphones arranged for optimal clarity
Now there are three common solutions for integrated microphones into a conference room. The most seamless solution of the three is a in-ceiling microphone. This type of microphone has ability to cover a large surface area and track the presenter or audience when speaking. CAT6 cable is used for the cabling and a web interface is used for set up via an IP address. Ceiling microphones usually send the audio back to the DSP via Dante with only one Cat6 cable needed for signal and control.
A second option would be a table-top or boundary microphone. This installation is more of a permanent solution which will require holes drilled into the conference table so the table-top microphone can be used with standard analog audio cabling or over a Dante network.
The third solution is wireless. Digital Wireless technology has come a long way and can reproduce very high-quality audio signals, can be encrypted and provide flexibility. Wireless microphones may come in table-top, handheld or lavalier clip on style to accommodate your rooms needs for changing conferencing venues.
Digital sound processing equipment and software
The DSP controls the fine tuning needed to perfect the audio quality in your meeting room. Equalizers and filters can take unwanted noise or frequencies out of the microphones and help with audio room correction. This is especially true for video conferencing and using your echo cancelling tools correctly. Without echo cancellation your video calls would be worthless, your clients would become frustrated and communication would come to a halt.
Speakers arranged for optimal dispersion
Speakers confront the most important obstacle in any collaborative space – can everyone hear the presenter? Whether that presenter is piped in through teleconferencing or at the other end of the table, sound solutions must answer the question. If aesthetics are not a major concern and if ADA regulations allow for it, mounting the correct speakers on the walls, can provide level volume throughout the space. Otherwise, speakers installed in the ceiling can offer needed sound dispersion. In either case, positioned speakers remove the need to increase volume to uncomfortable levels, which usually happens when sound is outputted in a small area.
